I recently decided to increase my visibility as an academic researcher online. Nothing big really, a personal website describing what I do, a more active Twitter profile and a Flickr account to share some of my (modest) attempts at taking pictures of my travels.
For some reason, researchers often feel like it's useless/unworthy of the discipline to have a web presence. I disagree and feel like we should come out of the ivory tower more often, to share our work with the public and build a better network amongst colleagues. Corey Bradshaw, author of the blog conservation bytes discussed this topic much better than me. If interested, you can read his blog post "Why every scientist needs an online profile". Thanks for reading and see you soon! Sophie
